SNAKES

                                                            Snakes!Snakes!Snakes!

When we think of snakes, numerous pictures slithers through our minds. Images of pet snakes, poisonous snakes, big snakes, little snakes, dangerous snakes, and snakes that can kill.
Oh, the list can be endless.
"THE ONLY GOOD SNAKE IS A DEAD SNAKE"
                                                 "A quote I love"
There was even a snake in a garden that God cursed.....and HE said his head would be crushed and he would slither on his stomach forever..We can see how powerful God is, that is exactly what snakes do,slither, and for the most part we crush their heads to make sure they are dead and can't come back to bite us!

"SNAKE MODE" Has this term ever slithered  your way?..Humm, probably not.
Well, we all have  SNAKE MODES at different times in our lives..But I guess I've never heard terminology given to this brain  attribute before...But I am glad I have now, because I can identify it when I see it.Just like identifying these creatures that most people hate.SNAKES!
What exactly is SNAKE MODE?Let me take you back, then we'll move forward and hopefully it will click or should I say strike accord with you and make more since .
Let me just begin by saying, it has to do with how the brain reacts in situations.I know,if your like me your saying to yourself ,humm, interesting.
The brain has always been mind intriguing to me. At a given opportunity to learn about the brain,I am all ears..not brains, but ears...
I was recently engrossed in a presentation  given about the pathways of the brain. It was given by two school administrators who had attended a workshop on the subject of  the brain . The training they attended was on how the brain responds in given situations. They wanted to know why  kids respond differently in a school learning environment.
Did you know that when the brain is given a negative comment, such as" your ugly",it takes something positive said 21 times for the brain to change it's reasoning.
Well, I'm a little off subject of, Snake Mode, but this too has to do with the brain...
      We have a "Snake mode".
If you walked out your door and look only to see a snake coiled up in front of you,you go into   Snake Mode.Your anxiety raises to new levels. You get a rush of adrenalin, then you react, either by running away or you choosing to take that enemy straight on.Either way you are not at your normal or calm state of being.
If you ever find yourself  in SNAKE MODE,your not focused on things that are happening around you.You can only think about the snake, or the turmoil, that is affecting your life.
Let just say if a child is involved in difficult situation, his anxiety level rises,he gets nervous, maybe even a little sweaty. At the same time a teacher is reading a story. The child can't focused on the story,he is still in SNAKE MODE,the turmoil, that is where his thoughts are. He hears very little or no part of the story.
We'll there are many times I find myself in Snake Mode.. and I think we all do..

My conclusion is....I know, how difficult it is for me to function at my best capacity when I am in Snake Mode,so it has to be just as, or even more difficult for a child to sit in a class room when there is all kinds of snakes in their lives and function to the best of their ability...

My prayer is that God will crush the  heads of the snakes that take on kids every day so they can find joy and laughter and just enjoy being kids...because they have the rest of their lives to be adults and and take on snakes........
